In the following tutorial supported by a video, I am going to explain to users of Samsung terminals with Android operating system, how to flash this type of terminals, using well-known tools such as odin for Windows.
In the learning process, I will also teach you how to move around the sammobile.com websitea essential page for all users of devices from the popular Korean company.
All this practical exercise I am going to do based on the Samsung Galaxy S, since it is the device that I currently have, but within the website of sammobile.com, you will find the necessary tools to perform them on any device of the Samsung brand, so much with Android OS which is what interests us, as with any other operating system, since the aforementioned website covers all the most current Samsung terminals.
Next, I will list the steps followed in the video-tutorial:
Registering at sammobile.com
in this first step it will be necessary register on the sammobile.com website, since through it we will get all the necessary programs and firmwares for the flashing process of our terminal Samsung.
Downloading the necessary files
Once correctly registered and identified with our username and password, we will proceed to download everything necessary to updating our Samsung device:
- The first of all will be to go through Drivers section and download the drivers corresponding to our terminal model.
- Then we will get off from the flashprograms option, tools necessary for flashing our specific terminal.
- Finally we will stop by the firmwares section to download the latest official version compatible with our specific model.
Practical tips for newbies
In the part of the firmwares, as I explain in the video, we must be very careful with the firmware we select, since the Value packs.
These kinds of updates are not actual firmwares, rather they are updates from the latest base, which means that we will have to start from the last base or complete firmware to later install these as an update.
If you look closely at the video-tutorial, users of the Samsung Galaxy S, we have the latest complete firmware base which is the JVU, this is the recommended base to flash as a primary base for later install modified recovery, and from there install cooked roms specially designed for our device.
After JVU, we have two Value Packs o updates what would be the JW4 and JW5, these two, being updates, would be installed on the JVU basis without checking the Re-partition option.
If you are not very sure what you are going to do, the best thing is that before you consult it in specialized forums, since in this way you will avoid many unnecessary headaches and annoyances.
It is always advisable, before installing any updates, check if there is a Compatible kernel that gives us the option of root and install ClockworkMod Recovery on our terminal, since otherwise, once updated we will not be able to root it or have the so beneficial modified Recovery, and the only option that we would have left, it would be to re-flash to a previous firmware.
The best research and development forum for terminals Android, is the well-known xdadevelopers forum, from it you can check and verify if they exist Modified and compatible kernels for the Android version you want to flash.
