The Honor Magic 2 is updated and replaces EMUI 9.0 by Magic UI 2.0 with Android Pie

When Honor officially announced the Magic 2, it did so with EMUI 9.0, Huawei's customization layer. Despite that, the phone is receiving the update to Android Pie under Magic UI 2.0, the latest version of the signature coat.

The update, which is quite small, it is only 214 MB in size, and not only does it bring a new user interface, but it also comes with the November security patch. The changelog says that Magic UI puts the focus on AI. If you remember, the Honor Magic 2 has an artificial intelligence assistant called Yo-Yo with features like live voice translation and a Google Duplex-like feature.

Magic UI 2.0 also brings a new combination of colors, icons and fonts, which means that your phone will look really different after applying the update. Other than that and the features that YoYo brings, the guys at XDA-Developers say that Magic UI 2.0 isn't really much different than EMUI 9.

If you are the proud owner of an Honor Magic 2, you can go ahead and check if the update arrived, through Settings o Configuration. If it's not available, you'll have to wait, as updates are usually released in batches.

The Honor Magic 2 has a sliding design that allows you to adopt a bezel-less display. The front cameras and sensors are placed on the second half of the phone and are visible when you slide the phone down.

The panel it has is a 6.39-inch AMOLED screen with a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio. Inside, owns a Kirin 980 with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of expandable storage space. There are three cameras on the back of the phone: 16 MP + 16 MP + 24 MP and three other cameras on the front: 16 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP.

The Magic 2 also has a under-display fingerprint scanner, support for 3D face unlock, Bluetooth 5.0 and a USB Type-C port. In addition, it has a 3,500 mAh battery capacity and supports 40 W fast charging.
