Recently, Huawei announced a trial version of HarmonyOS 4 for 28 devices, including the Mate 60 series. This new version promises more user-friendly operations, a pure and secure operating system, and a responsive device that works efficiently. But, what has surprised HarmonyOS users is that It is again possible to download Google apps.
The return of Google apps with HarmonyOS 4
Huawei has developed its own operating system called HarmonyOS. With this move it became the third global contender after Android and iOS. HarmonyOS is designed to offer a smooth and secure experience on Huawei devices, without relying on Android.
According to recent reports, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro, after receiving the HarmonyOS 4.0.0.162/4.0.0.163 update, started running Google mobile services. Also The same thing would be happening with the HUAWEI Mate X5. You can now install and use Google apps on these Huawei devices directly from AppGallery, Huawei's official app store. This was not possible before due to restrictions imposed by the United States.
To complete the installation you must search for Google Mobile Services add-ons in AppGallery and install them. After installation, you will be able add a Google account, receive push notifications and run apps from Google without any apparent problems.
It is possible, but with limitations
For now, this functionality is limited to the Mate60 Pro and Mate X5 models. It is not clear if this functionality will be extended to other Huawei devices or How long will it last. But, there is hope that that will happen in the future. There is also speculation that Huawei could limit this ability to avoid possible problems with Google.
It should be noted that this measure occurs while Huawei moves towards independence from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) code and Google with its next version HarmonyOS NEXT. This new version would use original components in the core of the system, eliminating AOSP code and supporting applications specifically designed for greater efficiency.
