GPS Status & Toolbox is updated with a revamped interface, better sharing options and more

There is a good variety of applications, such as Quickpic, that have been with us for a long time. Let's say they are one of the first that we installed enthusiastically for the amount of data that it could offer through its different screens and that it was placing us in a better way to get to know what a smartphone hides in itself, a good multitude of sensors to carry out all kinds of measurements. One of those first apps that I installed on my first Android phone was GPS Status, an application that greatly improved the data offered by the sensors to be really useful to know the intensity of the geolocator signal as well as other curious data such as the altitude or where the GPS radars were located.

This app is still in the Play Store and now it has been renewed in version 6.0, so it is the best excuse to bring it to the fore and pass it through these lines in Androidsis. In this version 6.0, what has been its somewhat "scrappy" aesthetic has been improved, in part, and which forced us to think that we were looking at a very useful app rather than one that would captivate us with its interface and icons. GPS Status can now say that it has a better design, they even dare to say that Material Design, although when it comes down to it it is not so much better. Apart from this renewal in the design, it has other new features that we describe below.

The best companion app for your GPS

This renovation in the design does not go very far from the old version, although for those of us who have spent a few years without trying it, surely that makes a big difference. Where there are news is in the side navigation panel from which you can access all the application options.

Now all the relevant information available to the user in this app has been reduced to two screens. A compass that takes up most of the screen real estate and then show the rest of the info. What cannot be understood is the reason for the two screens, since from one it would have been valid enough not to have to be changing from one to the other. Those two screens take us before the state and the radar, with the first being the one that really offers all the important information we need.

One of its novelties is the ability to share sensor values to another application and what is a more optimized night mode that improves its appearance to what it was previously. Another of its characteristics is the possibility of being able to acquire the Pro version from the application itself without having to access the other one they have in the Play Store.

In deep

GPS Status puts us before a great compass where we can see active radars in green and certain important information related to them such as the ones you have assets of all available. Then you can access certain information such as the degree of inclination, magnetic field, acceleration, speed and altitude. Its main virtue is to offer us the latitude and longitude data that mark our precise location. It also has other information such as brightness, and the amount of available battery left.

To be the free and basic version is very good, if we want go to PRO we have the ability to create, display and edit multiple waypoints and use them on the radar to navigate. Other data it offers is the pressure, rotation, temperature and humidity values if we have the sensors for it from the smartphone. Of course, the advertising present in the free one will disappear, so, if you want to access a great app for GPS, surely we are facing the best without fanfare and with the mission of having accurate information for the user.

It was time to rescue this app of those years in Android in which it has given so much, so we will continue with it, although that Material Design has arrived in part.
