While we see them and wish for that Android Nougat update reached our smartphones without problems, the curious thing about Google is that it is able to deploy updates to the latest version of Google Play Services to 90% of the active user base. Updates to Google Play Services do not change the Android core UI and do not add new APIs for developers to use.
But they can add new features to smartphones and tablets that have a fairly deep level of integration into the Android platform. We know today that Google is in the process of rolling out a new feature for Google Play Services right now. The update would take version 10.2 and in it it brings with it a great feature.
Not only does it consist of that interesting feature, but fixes and optimizations are added. It's Andreas Proschofsky who has uploaded a screenshot of a new feature called 'Instant Tethering' which he was able to discover once he received the update.
This functionality would allow us to ask our phone if we want to connect to tethering from another mobile device that we have connected to the Gmail account. It would be the other terminal that would automatically generate the tethering and the mobile that was without coverage would connect to it at that very moment.
It is downloadable manually the installation from here or you can wait for Google to release the update to the device through the Google Play Store. It seems that, for now, the Instant Tethering feature is available from the server side, which Google would be testing first with a small percentage of Nexus and Pixel devices running Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
Once it is active, you will be able to see two triggers that will allow you to designate whether you want your device to provide or receive a data connection.
