Google Meet will limit free video calls to 60 minutes

Google Meet

When the pandemic began to change the habits of millions of people around the world, video calling platforms became the most used both in academia and in business. Google Meet, Google's business video calling platform, has become completely free.

But of course, all good things end, and Google it will not continue to offer one of its payment platforms for free indefinitely. When he released the use of Google Meet, he stated that he would do so temporarily. After several months of free use and enjoyment of Google Meet, the date it will no longer be free.

On September 30, Google Meet video calls will continue to be available for free for any user to use, however, its duration is reduced to 6 minutes.

In announcing the end of unlimited free calls via Google Meet, the search giant does not specify if that limitation is only in the duration of video calls (which seems the most logical) or the total duration of video calls as a whole that users can make.

If the duration is limited to video calls, Google Meet is still one of the best, next to Microsoft's Skype, applications / services for making video calls in the academic field, where classes have a maximum duration of 1 hour, since the limitation of Zoom to 40 free minutes per video call is the least recommended.

If we take into account that the pandemic continues to rampage in some countries, such as Spain, it is striking that Google has not granted an extension to this service, although it is also logical because in the beginning, it did not have to have made the consideration of offering its platform for free.
