Google Map Maker passes away, but its features will be included in Google Maps

Google Maps

Google maps they are the best that exists and they allow us to explore the world around us in an exciting way. It is not that we all go looking at Maps through its layers, but for many users it is a great tool for all kinds of needs. Google Map Maker was a tool that allowed you to add or edit in Google Maps, but now we have bad news.

And it is that this online tool passes away when it closes its stalls forever. The company has announced that will be withdrawn sometime in March 2017, although the best thing about this news is that its editing features will be integrated into future versions of Google Maps. This allows us to dream a little about a Maps app with more options and greater features.

Google has posted this statement in a forum:

This update will allow us focus on providing the best experience for editing and moderation in Google Maps both on desktop and mobile. We will continue to roll out new features to ensure that you will be able to do most of the things you had in Map Maker, such as the ability to edit roads, by sometime in 2017.

From today, any of the edits made in Google Maps will not be available to moderate on Google Map Maker, as part of an effort to speed up the time for issues to be published.

Google Map Maker was launched in 2008 with the idea of offering anyone the opportunity to edit and suggest changes to roads, places and more on Google Maps. This tool has been criticized for the fraudulent use that has been made of it such as those conflicting images, which caused Google to close the capacity for moderation by users.
