The Pixel and Pixel XL have another very striking exclusivity and this is the option to use a gesture on the fingerprint sensor that allows access to the expansion of the notification bar. This feature was said that it would not be present in the Nexus 5X and 6P because it was not supported by the hardware of these terminals. But, both the Pixel and the two Nexus have been found to have the same fingerprint sensor.
So now it seems that Google is evaluating the possibility that on a new firmwareBoth the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P have that striking feature in the fingerprint sensor. The excuse given is that the scanner firmware version on those two phones was not capable of implementing the gesture option, but with a firmware update it would be possible.
Google's PR manager has stated that they are evaluating the option of an upgrade firmware for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P to add support for the Pixels fingerprint scanner gesture.
This does not mean that it will be like that, but there is a halo of hope so that you can use on your Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X that gesture that allows you to expand the notification bar for what would be a very fast action that allows another user experience with the Android device.
Google has not given more details about that new firmware or when it would arrive or, in the same way, what factors influence so that this gesture is active or available. What I wonder is if the Nexus can use the gesture, what other phones of this year 2016 could access that special gesture in the fingerprint sensor?
