Google Duo and Messages will stop working on uncertified devices

Messages

All smartphone manufacturers that want to use Google's Android on their terminals, have to receive a certification by the search giant, a certification that some manufacturers skip but that Google seems to care about, at least until now.

A few days ago, the guys at XDA Developers discovered that a warning was included in the Messages app code stating that if the mobile is not certified, the application would stop working. It seems that it is not the only one, since Google Duo also incorporates the same warning in its code.

What do means this?

Since Google was forced to stop working with Huawei, users who have continued to trust this manufacturer have been able to install Google services without any problem, well until Google turns off the tap.

In a few months, when Google activates this functionality (scheduled for mid-March), all users who make use of both applications on terminals not certified by Google (such as the latest models that the manufacturer Huawei has launched on the market) they will not be able to continue doing it.

What is this?

With the renewal of the Google Messages application, supporting RCS communications, the content of the messages, as well as that of video calls through Google Duo, It encrypts end-to-end.

In order to offer this encryption, the device must be certified by Google, otherwise, Google cannot offer end-to-end encryption security, since one of the terminals is not certified by the company, so it cannot ensure the complete security of the conversations held through its services.
