During the coronavirus pandemic, in which millions of students were forced to continue their studies from home, the use of Google Classroom has increased from 40 to 150 million users in just one year, and the impact of the digital divide on some groups became clear.
Google is not only aware of the increase in the use of its platform, but also of this problem, a problem whose solution passes, at least relatively, through offer an offline mode or with limited internet connection. The search giant has announced that it will implement this mode throughout this year.
When this option is implemented, the application will allow us download file blocks, but in addition, it also allows us to start tasks offline, review them, open attachments in addition to writing tasks in Google Docs.
In addition, the application improve workflow when attaching and sending photos with exercises, including the ability to combine photos into a single document, crop / rotate images, and adjust lighting to enhance their appearance.
In this way, for teachers it will be much easier and faster to review and add comments to student work, as they can use their smartphone or tablet camera to send their work without using a scanner.
The possibility of formatting texts (bold, italics, bullets ...) will also be added, an option that will be available on all platforms. All these functions are oriented so that teachers can track jobs in real time that they entrust their students and if they complete the tasks on the day they have been set.
To be able to use Google Classroom, it is necessary that the educational center has contracted the services G Suite for Educational Centers.
