Google changes future plans for Stadia

Stadia Catalog

That Google's pulse does not shake when it comes to closing services, it is not a novelty, although it is one of the most used, as at the time was Google Reader, the Google RSS reader that closed its doors in 2013 when it could not find no form of power take advantage of it economically, as it became known years later.

Google launched its Stadia cloud gaming platform in November 2019. Since then, Google has not announced at any time the number of users that the platform is moving, so today it is unknown. But, it has already started make future changes.

Google announced a few months ago that it was working with different studios to create up to 400 exclusive titles for this platform. Well, it's not going to be. Google has announced that it is closing the studies that were in charge of the development of the catalog of Google exclusives to focus on third-party titles.

It is clear that it is much cheaper and easier to offer the titles that everyone wants to play than focus on creating exclusive titles that probably won't have the same pull as the big guys in the industry. In addition, being available only on Stadia, the number of users is not the same as it could have on other platforms, mobile devices, PCs and consoles.

And what about current users?

According to Phil Harris, of Google Stadia, in the statement where he released the news.

What does this mean if you are a current or future Stadia player? You can continue to play all your games on Stadia and Stadia Pro, and we will continue to bring new third-party titles to the platform. We are committed to the future of cloud gaming, and we will continue to do our part to drive this industry forward. Our goal remains to create the best possible platform for gamers and the best technology for our partners, bringing these experiences to life for people around the world.
