In recent weeks, several Google applications have been updated to add a new function that allows us switch between accounts much faster and easier than now: through gestures. To switch between the accounts, we just have to slide our finger up or down on the avatar.
Google Maps, Contacts and Google Drive are the applications that until now had received this new functionality, functionality that it has also just arrived in the Gmail application. But in addition, this update also includes the first indications of the dark mode that so many users are waiting for this application.
Although it has taken time, finally the guys from Google have added this function to one of the Android applications that users use the most, something that is undoubtedly appreciated and will allow us to access all the accounts that we have configured on our devices in a more comfortable and faster way.
The feature to swipe between accounts is available in version 2019.08.18. Y does not eliminate the method we had until then and that allowed us to switch between accounts by sliding the left panel of the screen. The animation that Gmail shows us when changing accounts by sliding between the avatars that we have established, is the same that we can find in the Contacts application.
However, unlike what the Contacts application offers us, we do not have at our disposal any option to be able to access all the mailboxes that we have configured in the application, so it will continue forcing us to access the side menu to be able to consult all the trays jointly.
The time taken by Google to implement this function in the Gmail application is striking, since this has been available on iOS devices for several months. If you want to test this feature before it hits the Play Store as an update, you can download this version via APK Mirror.
