Android has been one of the fastest growing operating systems for many years thanks to the fact that it is installed in a higher percentage of mobile phones on the market. An application that does not usually fail is the keyboard that by default is integrated as standard, among them one of the most present is Google's Gboard.
Gboard usually works perfectly on all occasions, although in very few cases it fails, which is why many wonder why. Like any application, this one may have a problem from time to time, either properly for her or implied by a third.
Some time ago many users reported that Gboard did not work, this problem was widespread, so there were some solutions to fix it. If the system fails internally, it is likely that Gboard and other applications will not work the way they should.
Solutions if Gboard does not work on Android
If the Gboard app doesn't work On your Android device, there are several methods to try to solve a problem that has an easy solution. The keyboard is a tool that is used in all applications, in the web browser, in messaging apps and more.

- Now go back to Settings - Applications and look for Gboard, click Uninstall to remove the application from the phone
- Open the Play Store, search for Gboard and install the application to start from scratch, this should fix the problem if it does not work for you
- Finally you have to go back to the second step and in Default keyboard choose Gboard again to use it as you normally did
Disable other keyboards
Android by default usually has all keyboards enabled, if you have several installed it is best to disable those that you are not using at that time. If you have conflicts between keyboards, it is good that you opt for Gboard and remove those that in the end do nothing but create problems.

Make a cache partition
Another possible solution if Gboard does not work is to perform a cache wipe partition, it is fast and takes a process of between 2 to 3 minutes. It will depend on whether you manage well with the keys of your device and if you do everything to the letter, since you cannot skip any step.

Cache clearing is done as follows:
- Turn off the phone, once with the device already turned off press the volume - button and the power button at the same time until the phone turns on
- Hit the volume down button to activate the «Recovery mode»
- Press the power button to restart in "Recovery mode", it will show an icon of a green Android doll with a red exclamation point
- Now you must hold the power button, press the volume up button and release the power button
- Scroll down to "Wipe cache partition" and click the power button to select it
- Finally, click on "Restart system now" and hit the power button to choose the selection and that's it.
Google offers a solution if Gboard crashes
Google through its support gives some solutions if Gboard fails, the options are several and one of them happens to know if it has changed the keyboard without our knowing it. To restore it is a much easier task than it seems, not having to enter the phone's settings.
If Gboard changes to another keyboard, you can restore the same one as follows:
- On your device, open any app and write like you normally do
- Click on an area to write any text
- At the bottom click on the symbol
and choose Gboard
Google also offers another solution, the one to add Gboard back to the keyboard list, is a way to update and fix the recognition problem. To add it again you have to do the following steps:
- On your phone or tablet go to Settings
- Click on System - Languages and input text
- Virtual keyboard - Manage keyboards and activate Gboard
Install an older version
One of the last things to try is to download another version of Gboard, The only way to get a previous one is to visit the APK Mirror site. To do this you will have to delete the application, to do this follow the step of reinstalling the application and installing a version lower than the latest one.
The previous versions always work better, although the latest ones usually correct errors as is normal and that always happens in many applications. The latest version of Gboard dates from April 12, so you should download a previous one if you want to test if it works better than the last one on the phone.
