The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge continue to receive security updates

We almost 4 years after the launch of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and they still keep getting all the important security updates for a phone. Although everything could change next month, since we would enter the fifth year and there is already a small print.

These two Samsung phones received its latest major Android update with version 8.0 which was called as Oreo. Some S7 that were part, especially the edge, of that new design language with curved sides and that we continue to see in the high-end of Samsung.

In other words, the South Korean giant continues to duly launch security updates, but as we have said, starting this month things could change, as we would enter the fifth year of updates.

These are aimed at just releasing updates when they are critical. That is, we would no longer see those periodic updates, but rather specific than they would be so as not to put at risk the security of the telephones, and at the same time that of the users who use them.

In fact, the two S7 and S7 Edge received the March security patch to put them on par with the rest of the high-end of the Korean company. Samsung's guidelines for its phones go for the 3 years receiving security updates, a fourth with updates every three months and a fifth with the critics and well needed.

If you have one of these phones, do not delay in checking if you already have the update from their settings. Or we can find S7 and S7 edge firmwares in the repositories, and that many times they are the best place to update the phones before having the holy patience of reaching them by OTA.
