In yesterday's Keynote we were rgetting updates for most Google services, the new Hangouts replacing Talk, the Search Engine, Maps and Google+ updated in each new version, and the service appearing as a novelty to be able to play online with your friends Google Play Games providing a magnificent entertainment platform in the cloud.
Another service that has been updated in a bit of a quiet way has been Google Play Books, the book reader is included within the Google Play digital platform, working with content purchased through the Google store.
For some time now, users have been asking if at some point they were going to be able to upload their own personal content to Play Books, as Google Play Music has been doing since last year, offering the possibility of being able to upload up to 20.000 songs to your account of Google. Since yesterday in Keynote, Google is allowing the upload of your own Pdf or Epub to the Google Play Books app.
As we have just mentioned, Play Books supports Pdf and Epub files, and users can upload a maximum of 1000 titles in either of those two formats. To be able to carry out this upload you must upload your own content through the desktop in the online library from "My Books" in My Books-Google Play, or import them directly from Google Drive.
All your personal notes, page positions and bookmarks will be saved and synchronized in the cloud and thus you can easily access from any device where you have an active Google account.
The reading fans will have another great option to be able to read your favorite books on your tablets, having Google Play Books as a versatile service with the great addition of being able to upload your own content.
It has also included some new changes and some other optimization:
- Retouched the library app
- Table of contents view
- Delete confirmation
- Recommendation pages on the last page of books
- Stability and performance improvements
