Starting in February, Samsung Cloud will stop making copies of data from third-party applications

The Korean company has begun to send an email to all Samsung cloud users, informing about the next changes that this service will receive. As reported by Samsung, the storage service Samsung Cloud will stop storing copies of the data of third-party applications starting next February 6.

According to the company, the rest of the functionalities offered by the Samsung cloud storage service, will remain unchanged. What at first could be bad news for Samsung users, we must take into account the usefulness that until now had in this sense, a practically null utility.

Samsung will continue to back up third-party application installation files and restore them to the new device, more or less the same as Google currently allows us to do, but will not take care of restoring application data, something that in theory has always claimed to be able to do but that very few people have achieved, which forces us to start from scratch with each new terminal unless we have been careful to store the data of the applications using another method.

Samsung Cloud offers us 15 GB of cloud storage for free, 10 GB more than what Apple offers us. In those 15 GB we have more than enough space to make backup copies of system settings (including home screen settings) l contacts, messages, call logs, documents, notes, Internet data, voice recordings and all third-party applications installed on a given device. Those 15 GB they are not enough to be able to store all the multimedia content that we create with our device, which forces us to use Google Photos or periodically empty that content on our computer.

But if we want to use only Samsung's cloud storage service to be able to enjoy all the advantages it offers us, such as the possibility of being able to access all photos from any device, Samsung offers us different options to expand storage space at more than competitive prices.
