The batteries of mobile devices, and in general of any other electronic device, continue to offer us the same characteristics as when Volta invented them (saving the distance, but almost). Batteries are not only the most sensitive product in a device, they are also requires environmental conditions to work properly.
Although in this sense, the batteries have improved a lot in recent years, some devices, such as the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, are too sensitive to changes in the environment. According to tests carried out by several users, and which have been replicated by Android Police, the fast charging system of these models does not work correctly, when the temperature is not ideal.
According to these tests, depending on the ambient temperature, the temperature that is reflected in the device's battery, the battery is not capable of charging at the same speed as if it were to do so at a higher temperature, Even if it is 3 or 4 degrees more.
The manufacturers always report that the battery of the devices can vary depending on the weather conditions, but they had never informed about the duration of the charge of the same in adverse conditions. Unsurprisingly, Android Police has contacted Google for their opinion or possible solution in this regard.
The guys from Android Police have carried out different tests with the terminals: Pixel 2 XL, Pixel XL, OnePlus 5T, Essential PH-1 and the Nextbit Robin. All of them suffered a small drop in freight rates when the outside temperature was 16 degrees. However, the biggest difference is found in the Pixel 2 XL with a difference of 12W.
It is clear that when charging our smartphone, be it the Pixel 2 XL or any other, we are not going to do it on the street, where the temperatures are lower, but inside our homes, where the minimum temperature is usually from 20-22 degrees.
