Facebook Messenger on Android receives support for SMS

SMS

Facebook has announced that Messenger for Android is receiving the SMS support. The social network has been testing the feature with a few Android users since February of this year. With the integration to SMS, users will be able to send and receive SMS messages from this app.

The funny thing is that Facebook Messenger had SMS integration for some time before was retired in 2013, to now have it again in this rhythm of news that it has been integrating into all the most important apps such as this one, WhatsApp or the official app of its social network.

To get Messenger to become your default app For SMS messages, you will have to open the application and go to Settings> Select SMS from the list and activate "App SMS by default". You will be able, at that moment, to see and respond to all the SMS conversations you have from the Messenger app. All SMS messages will be in purple while the rest of the conversations in Messenger will be in blue.

From this space you can also send voice audios, stickers and even share your location apart from what are the most basic features such as images and videos. Facebook has mentioned that SMS in Messenger does not send, upload or store your conversations on Facebook's servers. All messages are sent and received via SMS and the SMS standard. Please note that rates related to this type of message service will continue to apply.

Support for SMS on Facebook Messenger is being deployed in most countries, but only on Android, since iOS currently does not offer support for the permissions that have to give access to this type of message.
