Facebook is not a company that lags behind in updating their products and services, and there are countless entries that are related to different innovations that they bring to their different apps that usually bring together millions of users using their features. Although the truth is that we would love for them to really optimize the Facebook app on Android so that it does not consume so many resources and it seems that the most important thing on a smartphone today is this app so that everything else remains in the background. The truth is that the attachment we have to its social network is such that we forget that, when we uninstall it from our terminal, it seems as if we had another one in our hand.
Be that as it may, Facebook continues to release news to its apps and this time it was the turn of Facebook Messenger, a better optimized and developed app, which has implemented part of the Material Design lines. That design pattern that Google established almost two years ago at Google I / O and that has almost fundamentally changed the feelings one takes when with a phone with an almost pure custom layer. Facebook follows the prevailing in Material Design and brings us a new version of Facebook Messenger that will soon fall on the Google Play Store to access those changes that, although they do not completely change the interface or the visual aspect, they do give a better presence.
A renewed Facebook Messenger
Messenger has had a quite interesting journey so that in the first instance it was an app rejected due to the slowness of its interface and the little visual style it had. What did change when Facebook had already devised that it would separate the conversations from the Facebook app on mobile devices to pass them to this app. It was at that time that a larger version of Messenger arrived that implied an interface that moved perfectly and it had a great visual finish. This motivated millions of users to launch the installation of this app, which was a great success for the company owned by Mark Zuckerberg.
Now they want put the icing on the cake with that Material Design that has proven its worth for just under two years in which we have seen thousands of apps get on the train of great design and animations that turn the experience of using an Android phone into something very different in terms of which was Android 4.4 KitKat and earlier versions.
A few tweaks
What cannot be expected is a total change in the visual aspect of Facebook Messenger, but it will be possible access various that will improve the design lines of this app. In the shared images you can see part of this, and it would not be crazy to think that some more changes will come.
The FAB, or share button, is the one that includes the biggest change in this new update and the one that now allows us to start new conversations with the contacts we have on this social network. The rest of the news goes through a status bar that is now gray, the tab icons are smaller and darker, and the groups and settings have been changed to more appropriate icons.
As you can see, they are small details mostly with the implementation of that floating button that will allow to start conversations.
