Just a few days ago we told you that Andy Rubin's Essential Phone was a disappointment with barely five thousand units sold. There were several reasons that pointed to this, being the poor performance of your camera one of the most importants. Well, now the company begins to take action on the matter.
The Essential Phone PH-1 camera has already received three updates during the short time it has been on the market. With these updates the HDR mode was introduced and the speed was improved however, images still lacked flagship quality of 2017.
Finally, everything indicates that Essential has been listening carefully to the criticisms of users and the specialized press and has recently announced a new and important update on its blog.
To get this update, users of the Essential Phone PH-1 must install a system software update (the compilation identified with the code NMI81C) and update the camera application through the Google Play Store.
According to the company, this new update improves camera latency, reliability and performance, or at least that is what its little more than five thousand owners surely await. These are the details of the update:
- Increase capture speed in regular light conditions and slow down to less than a second (more than 40% faster)
- Brightness and low-light performance have been improved
- Spatial sound enhancement when recording in 360-degree mode (compatible with device and in
- Facebook and YouTube)
- Ability to use the up and down keys as shutter buttons in 360 degree mode
- Countdown timer in 360 degree camera mode
- Bug fixes and general reliability improvements
