It seems incredible that we are talking about what finally Google Docs, Sheets and Slides get a new design with Material Design. The surprise is because this design language has been with us for years and while many other Google have received it, they seemed to be forgotten.
But it is Google that has taken a moment from his blog to announce the new design for its three apps dedicated to office automation and which have made it very difficult for Microsoft's; although Excel itself can boast of exceeding 1.000 million installations.
The big G warns that, while there are no new changes in functions, users will notice the visual improvements, including a stylized list of documents, new high-definition fonts, consistent controls and iconography updated to today.
This redesign already has been seen in the latest versions of Google Docs and Presentations, so that today it begins to arrive in Spreadsheets. The objective of this redesign is to bring together all Google apps under the same design language and the user is able to quickly access any of them with a pleasant and comfortable user experience.
Fun fact, that just ten months ago Google update the web version of these apps so that now we have the same design in the apps for our devices. If you haven't realized that Docs and Presentations had a new redesign, now is the time to update Spreadsheets and take a look to see the differences.
An update that falls at this time in the Google Play Store and you probably already have it available. It's already taking a while to see the differences and visual novelties. We are missing the dark mode that Google Duo already has.
