Google Hangouts and Google Talk services are now a thing of the past, but the Mountain View company usually leaves a trace of our conversations in the cloud. Although it may seem strange, it is possible to access all of it even if the services are not currently operational and have been replaced.
The best thing in this type of case is to delete the entire history, especially if we do not want to leave any type of information in the cloud. You can delete any text and image from these two services that will be remembered by those who used it for a long time, especially Hangouts.
Clear Hangouts and Talk history
Both Google Hangouts such as Google Talk allowed in the last days to delete the information before their service ended, but many users were careless about it. Today it is possible to do it thanks to Gmail, the client gives the possibility of doing it in a fairly simple way.
To delete Google Talk and Hangouts conversations in Gmail you will have to do it from the desktop version, since the app on your device does not give the option. For some reason Google adds the option in the manager that we use frequently when loading the Gmail.com address.
- Open the web version of Gmail on your computer
- Go all the way down and click on the "More" option and then the "Chats" option will be displayed, click on it
- Once all the information about the two services is displayed, select all of them with the box in the upper left and then click on the trash can
- All these messages will go to the trash, so you must go through it to delete them completely, since Gmail usually stores them in case you want to delete them or recover it at some point
- Go below Chats and click on "Trash", select all Google Talk and Hangouts chats and click on Delete permanently at the top of the mail manager
Once you delete all the chats from both services, you will have a little more space in Gmail and other applications that use the 15 GB, among them is Google Drive for example. All that information from archived chats is best to remove it from the cloud to be able to leave behind two applications that have had their space for quite some time.
