CyanogenMod passes away and says goodbye forever [Updated]

CyanogenMod

CyanogenMod you will always have your space well loved for all of us who had the opportunity in the early years of Android to test those custom ROMs. Some ROMs that allowed us to have software and a custom layer that offered optimal performance when compared to those of the manufacturers that left much to be desired.

That CyanogenMod today has given its sad goodbye forever in a post that makes it well said that they stop developing ROMs. Of course, they will leave the open source or open source so that any developer can take it and create their custom ROM. But what has been said, a sad and bitter note for this Christmas day in which we should be thinking of other more positive things.

This is the note on the blog:

As part of the Cyanogen consolidation, all Cyanogen services and nightly builds will be released as of December 31, 2016. The Open Source Project and source code will remain available for anyone who wants to develop CyanogenMod personally.

Ultimately, a very sad day for Android, since we are facing one of the development teams that have been part of the spectacular progression of this OS for mobile devices. Android cannot be understood without CyanogenMod, and surely in the future we will miss that large number of developers who non-profit offered ROMs for those users who were looking to update their phone to the latest version of Android, or simply they wanted their phone to work well.

Cyanogen has not clarified the reasons for this decision, but the truth is that lately they were not having a good time and even its founder had to leave the company.

Now we can say goodbye to a CyanogenMod that has meant a lot for as many users as for Android itself. Surely those ROMs that stay with their open source will be taken by developers and chefs, but I said, a sad day for Android.

[Updated] Cyanogen Inc will close its doors on December 31; with it the support to the builds nightlies and CyanogenOS.

[Updated 2] CyanogenMod confirmed yesterday afternoon that it closes the doors, as well as all operations. This link takes you to the CM blog entry.

But really, after this has been talked about over a hundred times and you've screwed up yourself several times and been told, are you still confusing CyanogenOS with CyanogenMOD?

One more time: BE AWARE AND LEARN TO INFORM BEFORE YOU WRITE: WHAT IS ENDED IS CYANOGENOS NOT CYANOGENMOD.

CyanogenMOD is still as powerful as ever and has a string for a while.

If you want, take note and if not, continue your march.

Sorry Antrax, but No. Cyanogen Inc continues, the one that ends is CyanogenMoD; they will stop developing ROMs as they make clear in the statement. Another thing is that any cook or developer take open source and continue with the development. It is sad news, yes, but it is so.

    No Manuel, no.

Let's see if i get it:

-> Blog of the Cyanogen Inc. Private company that was looking to do business with the sale of ROM's to phone manufacturers. THIS IS THE COMPANY THAT CEASES ITS ACTIVITIES.

-> CyanogenMOD blog. Here nothing changes and everything continues on its way. It doesn't change anything because, basically, they are volunteers creating the ROM's. There is no profit motive and all the necessary infrastructure comes from donations.

I insist that, to be writing in an Android blog, you cannot make mistakes of this caliber. And I sincerely hope that, when you find out, there will be a rectification in this blog post.

The entry is already updated. You were right and well that is so, for now it is Cyanogen who says goodbye with his CyanogeOS. If CyanogenMod disappeared on Android it would be a very bad sign; I have used their numerous for years now, so a joy to the body on this Christmas Eve.

    Merry Christmas to all!

      Curious way to rectify yours.

To rectify a piece of news (which can happen to all of us), does not mean writing two lines at the bottom. It is necessary to modify the erroneous information of the news so that the public for whom we are writing, after all, knows what the reality is. If false information is not removed, we are only creating confusion. And that portrays us as a means of information, showing the respect we have for the readers who follow us.

The competition out there is a lot and very good how to allow this.

      Merry Christmas.

After all the confusion, CyanogenMod has died. CyanogenMod itself confirmed it yesterday from its blog and it is Lineage Android Project that takes the living spirit of a CM that leaves us.

          PERSONAL RECTIFICATION
          -------------

In the same way that I ask that it be rectified when there is an error, I too must accept my mistakes and correct them if it is in my power.

From here, apologize to Androidsis in general and Manuel in particular.

Indeed, it has been confirmed that CyanogenMOD has been taken out of the game.

And already today, without waiting for the 31st, it seems that the CyangogenMOD page has stopped working.

          A sad day.
