We are going to achieve this with the help of a terminal of those that we have at home and that we no longer use, and following the instructions that I indicate in the video about how to create our own Google Home easily. - Android smartphone or tablet that is compatible with the Google Assistant: For our old Smartphone or Tablet to be compatible with the Google assistant we must meet these requirements: 1st - Be in a version of Android 6.0 or higher, 2nd - Have at least an HD screen resolution and have at least 1.5 Gb of memory RAM.
- Internet connection either via Wifi or via data, preferably Wifi connections so as not to consume our data plan and not need to have a SIM card inserted in the terminal.
- It does not matter if it does not have IMEI or it does not work for Bluetooth or data, as long as the Wifi works properly, it is more than enough.
- Bluetooth Speaker or Speakers with cable and 3.5 mm Jack connection: It is preferable to use a speaker connected via cable as this will lose the small delay that occurs via Bluetooth connections.
- Power cable to have the Smartphone or Tablet that we are going to use as a permanently connected home Google Home.
- Power cord for speaker.
Steps to follow to create your own home Google Home
Simply what we are going to do is download the Google application on our Smartphone or tablet and the Google speech synthesis application. Once both applications are installed, we open the Google application and from its settings in the Voice section, we select the voice recognition option, and we enable as many options as we are allowed in that section.
We configure the voice model by saying OK GOOGLE three times in a row We will already have our Google Assistant ready to act as a home Google Home.
Now we will only have to look for a beautiful place in the living room of our home and with access to two power outlets where we will connect the smartphone and the corresponding speaker, in addition we will connect the speaker to the smartphone either via Bluetooth connection or 3.5 mm Jack connection, preferably this last connection.
Finally, and so that the screen of our Android that is going to perform the functions of Google Home does not turn off, we will go to the settings menu of our device and within the developer options we will enable the option to remain active screen while the terminal is loading.
These developer options, if they do not appear in the settings menu of your Android, you can enable them with just enter Phone or Tablet Information y click seven times in a row on the build number information.
With this, our Android terminal will never enter sleep mode and we will always have it ready to listen to the voice command OK Google.
If you are in the case that you do not have a speaker for create your own homemade Google Home, you can manage with the integrated speaker of your Android terminal, although I assure you that the final result is not as spectacular as using an external speaker.
