VLC is the player par excellence in both desktop computers as in mobile devices, and although Android is still in beta, it is an application that behaves perfectly and has everything that can be required of one of this type. Chromecast support is one of the functionalities that remained to be integrated to this excellent video and audio player such as VLC. VLC developer Felix Paul Kühne confirmed that Chromecast development had begun for the iOS version. While later announcing the arrival for Windows, Linux and Mac, the Android version was left out of the game, until Gigaom reported that Kühne confirmed via email that the Android version would arrive just after the iOS version was rolled out.

For those of you who do not know what Chromecast is, it is one of the latest products launched by Google to stream directly from your phone or tablet to your home TV using a dongle that you can connect to the HDMI connection. Thanks to Chromecast you can play all kinds of multimedia content such as YouTube videos, audio from Dropbox or Google Play Music. A world opens up to us thanks to this interesting device that Google launched last summer and that recently arrived in our country.

Regarding the arrival of VLC support, the iOS version will arrive in mid-July. While Android is still in beta and it will come after the iOS one. Another piece of news that we can bring you is that the same page of the VLC Play Store announces that a major update will be released shortly that will remove the "Beta" label from the application, so we will be attentive to it.
