BQ Witbox Go, 3D printer with Android

Witbox go is a 3d printer of the Spanish brand BQ

The Spanish brand BQ is in the news these days for the presentation of two new smartphones: the BQ Aquaris presented Witbox Go, a 3D printer with Android.

BQ claims that Witbox Go will be the first printer 3D that will go on the market with Android as the operating system. Yes, we have seen conventional printers with Android so far or that could be handled easily from another Android device, but not with a 3D printer, which are much more oriented to specific environments and rather professional than at the user level.

However, BQ aspires to that with Witbox Go normal users can have access to these types of printers. How? Well, through Android and developing its own software that allows anyone to print the object they want with their 3D printer, making the process much easier. A process that can take hours with a normal 3D (or rather, professional) and that BQ raises reduce to a matter of a few minutes, greatly reducing the number of settings to be defined and automating most of the processes, which makes it possible for anyone to use it without the need for extensive knowledge.

All the specs of this printer, which is manufactured in Spain and will have a minimalist design, are the following:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor
  • 4 or 8 gigabytes memory
  • Android 6.1
  • WiFI and NFC connectivity
  • 5 kilos of weight
  • Measurements: 300 x 250 x 480 millimeters
  • Maximum print volume: 140 x 140 x 140 mm
  • Updates via OTA

BQ states that the Witbox Go 3d printer will go on sale during the third quarter of this year 2017, that is, during the months of summer. The starting price will be $599 in its most basic version.
