Android M has multi-window mode, although for now it is hidden

Android M is here. The latest version of the operating system is now available for some Nexus devices, bringing some very interesting new features. One of the most anticipated was the arrival of multi-window natively. And, although we do not initially see this option, the guys at Google have integrated the Multi-window mode on Android M.

And it is that from XDA they have discovered that in Android M you can access this function, although it is quite hidden. To obtain activate multi-window mode on Android M you must have root permissions or a custom recovery.

Android M with multi-window is a reality: although for now hidden

Of course, the moment we activate the Multi-window function in Android M Google will notify us that it's an experimental mode and it may not work properly. Something normal considering that for a few months we will not see the first final version of Android M working.

For those of you who do not know what this multi-window mode is about, tell you that this function, which was seen for the first time back in 2012 when Samsung presented the Galax Note 2, allows us to have two applications open at the same time on the screen. In this way we can work in both applications to, for example, write an email while watching a YouTube video. Useful and simple.

The definitive version of Android M will surely bring the multi-window mode activated automatically to have two applications running at the same time on the screen

Keep in mind that, although you can activate this function there may be compatibility issues so we do not guarantee that it will work properly. Hence the warning message from Google.

Once the multi-window service is activated, when you open multitasking, a new button that will allow you to select two applications at the same time. In my opinion, one of the most interesting novelties of Android M and one that will delight users of large devices such as phablets or tablets.

What it looks like to me weird is that Google had not implemented this function before. Taking into account the good reception it had in the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and how little it took its competitors, with LG in the lead, to launch their own version, the Mountain View team should have activated this option before. Although better late than never, don't you think?
