Most downloaded apps and games in the last decade

We are about to close a decade and begin another. This last decade has brought about the birth of a new category of applications and games. Applications and games for mobiles have at their disposal a large market that does not stop growing, although in the last year it has begun to show signs of exhaustion.

App Annie has created a classification where it is found not only the most downloaded games and applications of the last decade, but also, it also shows classified, the games and applications that have generated the most money in both the Play Store and the App Store.

Although the birth of both stores is earlier, App Annie only shows us two data from January 2012 (Play Store) and from December 31 (App Store). Facebook tops the list of most downloaded applications with 4 of them: Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram, although the latter two did not come from the offices of Mark Zuckerberg.

Thanks to in-app purchases, the most popular streaming service in the world, Netflix, reaches the first position of the applications that have generated the most money, followed by Tinder and Pandora Music. For just over a year, it is no longer possible to pay the subscription from the application, so it will cease to top this ranking in the coming years.
