In an attempt to offer customers smartphones with a minimal amount of bezels around the screen, OEMs have adopted different first-class design styles.
The notch is the most popular option today, as it offers us a higher screen ratio, despite the fact that it is not very pleasant among users ... at least not a significant number of them. Most fans would rather not have a phone with the notch. But, just as punch-hole screens or pop-up selfie cameras are already available on some devices, Huawei is working on a new alternative to the notch that could debut in some of its models.
The pop-up camera is one of the most interesting options to avoid the "annoying" screen clipping that annoys more than one user, and boy is it becoming more popular in the industry with considerable speed. However, manufacturers have to deal with the challenges of having a sliding mechanical design that raises concerns about durability.
Huawei may have a viable alternative to the notch that does not involve the use of a pop-up or selfie camera, nor does it involve on-screen punching.
The smartphone, as contemplated in the patent document, features a notchless display that is joined by a slim chin and side bezels. By all accounts, Huawei is toying with the possibility of a tight top bezel.
The top edge is curved in a pattern similar to the design featured on some Meitu mobiles. The outer curve creates enough space to house the selfie camera and audio receiver speaker. However, the design does not look spectacular. In fact, it may taste a bit bitter, as it has an old-fashioned feel to it.
Huawei's design will be used, in all probability, only in the low and mid-range segment when you are ready for marketing. In any case, given that this plan is essentially a patent at this stage, there is no guarantee that the tech giant will ever release a phone with this type of design.
