Huawei Announces Plans to Sell Its HiSilicon Processors to Other Manufacturers

Kirin

Huawei's IC Design subsidiary, HiSilicon, will soon be broadening its horizons in the smartphone processor market. The firm has announced this, implying that sooner rather than later we would be seeing Kirin chipsets in phones from other brands, in addition to the two already used (Huawei and Honor).

That does not mean that Huawei will stop receiving supplies of HiSilicon chipsets, of course. More than anything else, it stands out as an expansion announcement. HiSilicon wants to establish more partnerships with various companies in the industry, which would go down very well to the market, thus affecting it positively as there will be broader and more diverse offerings for consumers.

HiSilicon also announced the merger of its set-top boxes and television lines into a new brand called Smart Media. The segment will house a host of high-performance display processors based on Linux System-on-Chips and 4K / FHD.

On the other hand, Huawei's subsidiary announced plans to establish a significant presence in the emerging Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) sector. The AIoT sector has several players like Xiaomi, which has a growing range of products and solutions. Huawei's participation will really accelerate the growth of said block. So don't just expect new news about smartphone chipsets, but also more announcements about this and different segments.

No details have been given of the dates of the realization of these and other projects., but it is possible that in the course of this new year we will be witnessing the feats that HiSilicon would be carrying out in the new parts it has set out to reach. While we wait for more news in this regard, we predict that the company's success will be good and fulfilling its new goals. Whether this will work out remains to be seen.
