Samsung Galaxy S, Dark Knight 5.5 Rom

Dark Knight Logo by Nasif

Today I am going to present you this sensational work of the cook Nasif.

Directly from xdadevelopers, I bring you this rom based on the firmwareAndroid 4.0.4, built on the build of the Team Kang, and that includes configuration options typical of the roms of this prestigious team of Chinese developers.

This rom feels very fluid and stable on our Samsung Galaxy S, the combination of the base of the Team Kang, with the Kernel Devil 1.1.6b, make their performance and operation squeeze the maximum potential of our device, being one of the best and most valued jobs in terms of Ice Cream Sandwich for our terminal.

For this rom to work correctly and not give us failures such as forced closings of applications, it must be installed, from a base Stock firmware or with a completely clean installation procedure.

Rom features

Dark Knight 5.5 Settings

As I have already mentioned at the beginning of the post, this rom has been created by Nasif, and is assembled from the works of the Team Kang,(AOKP):

  • Android 4.0.4 base.
  • Very fast and stable rom.
  • There is no type of lag.
  • Camera at full performance and with full support for 720p recording. and zoom.
  • Kernel Devil 1.1.6b_BFS_BLN_CMC.
  • Support for init.d
  • Pre-rooted.
  • Busibox installed and updated to its latest version.
  • Longer battery life, since version 4.0.4 eliminates the bug from the previous version of Android.
  • Added the Widgets in the notification curtain.
  • Gps improvements.
  • Significantly increased speed when transferring files via usb.

Preparing the Samsung Galaxy S

To install this rom, and as I told you at the beginning, we will start from a clean installation and from the base JVU Stock.

The battery of our terminal must be charged to its maximum capacity, if not, I recommend that before starting the installation process you charge it at 100 x 100.

Likewise, we must have activated the USB debugging, since this can free us from some displeasure than another.

Rom installation process

Dark Knight 5.5 Launcher Main Screens

The first thing we should do is download the rom from the xdadevelopers page, once downloaded we will copy it without decompressing to the root of the internal memory of our device and we can turn off the Samsung Galaxy S to proceed to turn it on in mode Recovery.

The steps to follow from the Recovery are as follows:

  1. Wipe data / factory reset.
  2. Wipe cache partition.
  3. Advanced / wipe dalvik cache.
  4. Go back, to return to the main Recovery screen.
  5. Install zip from sdcard.
  6. Choose zip from internal sdcard, in this step we navigate to the rom zip and confirm its installation.
  7. Reboot System Now.

With this we will have the sensational work of Nasif installed correctly in our Samsung Galaxy S, it is possible that in a first flashing just install the Rom kernel, we will realize this, because our device will remain in a continuous loop on the boot screen, to solve it we will only have to re-enter the Recovery and install the rom from step number 5.

Well, I do not know what to tell you, I have not been able to verify it personally, but there are users who comment that it is.

Interesting ROM, but .. does the FM radio work? Battery consumption? : p

    1.    FranciscoRuizAntequera said

The FM radio does not work in any ICS, but you have Spirit that does the same function, in terms of battery consumption it is relative to the use you give it, but it is around the levels of all ICS.

      1.    Bline hodd said

Omg, in no ICS? : S how bad xD. The Spirit I imagine that if it does not work by internal radio it will use TDD, right?

        Thanks for the answer Francisco

        1.    FranciscoRuizAntequera said

The spirit uses the same method as FM radio, you just have to adjust the parameters manually.

  4.   Belt said

Well, it goes quite fluid and looks very good but I have a couple of problems ... On the one hand, the data transfer is deactivated by itself after a while (sometimes 15 minutes, sometimes an hour as it gives it) and on the other hand I cannot put ringtone no own mp3 song. Thanks

    1.    FranciscoRuizAntequera said

All that you have to configure from rom Control

      1.    Belt said

I have already solved the mp3 songs, I just had to change their location to the «Rigntones» folder and that's it. The data traffic thing has been fixed for me, it just seems to be…. Let's hope it keeps working and doesn't just log off again. But now I have new problems:
-It tells me that I have little disk space left when it is not true, I have more than 3 free rooms of space but it does not let me install more applications and I get a permanent notice in the notification bar saying that there is almost no space left ……. I have searched many forums and I can't find any solution since some talk about partitioning the card or things like that and others say that with ICS you don't have to partition anything ... I'm a bit lost.
-I also have the problem that the battery indicator does not mark well, it goes from 100% to 85% to 50% to 43% and thus without indicating the intermediate numbers ... I know that the latter is not very serious but I am pissed off not knowing how much battery is really left….
        Thanks again

    1.    FranciscoRuizAntequera said

Within the APNs you have to activate the connection by checking the round box next to the description.

      1.    enzogms said

I have the same problems as Djoscarbass, I did what you say and nothing ... I don't know if I have a 3G signal either - ICS doesn't make video calls?

Hello, I would like to know if this rom can be installed in the Samsung Galaxy S Plus?

    1.    FranciscoRuizAntequera said

No, each terminal has its own structure and different hardware.

  7.   FW23 said

Does anyone know if it is possible to flash another modem on this ROM?

The default modem of this ROM does not work as well for me as the one I had in Gingerbread (JVO Modem). I suppose it is due to the geographical area (each type of modem works better for certain areas). Before I was with Darky Rom 2.3.6 Gingerbread and it was possible to flash modems, but I have tried with this from the CWM and it gives me an error.

Someone knows something about it? Thanks

Hello friends, I have a very small concern about this room. I have changed the Rom to samsung galaxy s for dark knight 5.5 and 4.0.4 but it gives me many problems, the screen freezes when I want to open a program. (not every time), sometimes it restarts itself, most of the time it tells me that the program does not respond that if I want to close it, when a call comes in it freezes and does not let me answer (they are also sometimes), and no I know what to do. If someone can please give me a cable, I would appreciate it very much. I had version 2.3.6 rooted

I don't have any of that, maybe they have a video to help me, thank you very much in advance 🙂

Samsung Galaxy S, update via odin to firmware 2.3.6 and its CF Root

      37

      Samsung Galaxy S
The tutorial that we present below, how to update the Galaxy S by means of Odin to firmware 2.3.6 and its corresponding Root, will serve, among other things, to install the ClockWorkmod Recovery in our GT-I9000, to later be able to install any modified Rom and optimized for our terminal.
The first thing we must check is if our Galaxy S has access to Download mode, for this and with the terminal completely off we will turn it on with the following combination of buttons, Vol minus + home button + Power button, we will press them at the same time and without releasing them until a screen like this appears:

      Access Download mode
If so, we will be prepared to install the JVU firmware with Android 2.3.6 using a tool that will become basic and essential for our Android, the tool is none other than Odin for Windows.
To exit Download mode, all you have to do is hold down the power button for about ten seconds, or, failing that, remove the battery for about five seconds and put it back in.
      Preparing for installation
Keep in mind that by following the steps in this tutorial you must assume all responsibility for what may happen to your device, if you adhere to the instructions here, nothing bad should happen, but think that every time we enter the internal system of our Galaxy there is a risk if we do not do things as instructed.
Likewise, before starting this tutorial, you must have your terminal's battery charged 100%.
We must have all the drivers installed correctly on our PC, if you have Kies installed and you have successfully synchronized your terminal on any occasion, you will already have the necessary drivers installed, if not, go to the official Samsung website and download the latest official version of this program and install it and synchronize your device.

      Kies official Samsung program
The first thing we will do once we have verified that we have access to the Download mode, will be to download all the necessary files to carry out this tutorial successfully, for this we attach the links to both the Odin program for Windows and the official JVU Firmware and its corresponding CF Root.
Next I leave you the link of an essential file called Pit 512, which is essential to flash our Galaxy using Odin, usually it comes inside the Firmware or CF Root tablet, but as sometimes I have found the unpleasant surprise of that this essential file was missing I attach it to you individually so that you can keep it safe.
Once all the files have been downloaded, we will unzip them all in the place on our PC that we like the most, I advise you to create a new folder on the desktop and unzip them all within it, all except the last file, since it is not compressed.
Now in this step we will go to the menu of our Galaxy S and activate the Usb debugging, which is located in the following path: Menu / Settings / Applications / Development.
Once all this is done, we will be able to update our Galaxy S to version 2.3.6 using Odin and install its corresponding CF Root.
      Firmware installation method
First of all we will check that Kies is completely closed, for this we will open the Windows task manager and end any process that has to do with Kies, simply looking at the names of all open processes, if any include the word Kies somewhere we would close it too.
Now we will run the Odin program and we will be shown a window like this:

      Odin home screen
Next we will place the files in the Firmware folder as follows:
 We will place the Pit file that we download last in the button of the same name, for this we will click on PIT and-navigate to the path where we save it previously.
 In the PDA button we will place the Code file of the unzipped firmware
 In the PHONE button we will place the MODEM file
 In the CSC button we will select the file called CSC
We will check that the Check-list type boxes on the left are marked with the Re-Partition, Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options.
For more security check the image attached below:

This is how Odin should look on you
Once everything has been verified, we will turn off the Galaxy completely, and we will turn it on through the combination of buttons mentioned above in Download mode, we will connect it to the PC and we will check through the Odin screen that it has recognized it correctly, for this it will show us the word COM followed of a number just in the upper left.
Now we will only have to press the Start button and not touch anything until the process ends and in the upper left part it reports the word Pass, it goes without saying that we should not, during this process disconnect the phone under any circumstances, as well as prevent our computer from going to sleep, hibernation or anything like that.
The process can take about five minutes. Until we see the word PASS do not touch anything, once we are given the Pass we can disconnect the phone from the computer and wait for it to restart.
      CF Root installation method
With the previous step you will already have the Galaxy updated correctly and fully functional to Android version 2.3.6, in this next step, we will dedicate it through the same tool to install a custom Kernel with the Root and ClockWorkmod Recovery installed.
After this process we will have the Galaxy ready to install any compatible Rom through the modified Recovery.
We will open Odin again, if we already had it open from before, we would close it and open it again, this time we will place the file inside the CF Root folder, in the PDA section of Odin, and we will not select any more files.
We will verify that Re-Partition is not marked this time, the other two options should be selected, so that there is no doubt I am attaching a capture of how everything should look this time:

This is how Odin should look on you
Once we have verified that everything is as in the attached image, we will turn off the Galaxy and turn it on again in Download mode, once it is turned on we will connect it to the PC and we will give the Start option of the Odin window.
This time the process will take less than a minute, as soon as Odin returns the word Pass, we can disconnect our phone from the computer and wait for it to restart.
With this we will have Roteado, the Recovery modified and updated to version 2.3.6 of Android.
Stay tuned for new publications as I will be presenting you the best Roms for our device, both the Gingerbread and the most recent Ice Cream Sandwich with android 4.0.
More information - Samsung will not update its Galaxy S with any value pack

So I closed the odin and apart I restarted the computer and kite battery to the gt i9000t that I have but now it no longer allows me to enter the recovery mode and when I reconnect it to the odin and do the steps it is only in command sbl.bin and from there no nothing progresses. I already tried to connect it to the kies and it did not recognize me either, someone may know how I can fix it. Important note I followed all the steps to the letter and even so I failed uu

to use the data packet, but it happened to me other times and it's over

But, one question, how do I install the fix? on the page where the ROM was, they say to install a fix, they give these instructions:

Install the main rom first go to Rom control / Start-up Tweaks. Allow superuser Permission. Then Install this fix.

but beyond allowing root access I do not get

Another little thing, I guess the network failures are due to the modem, I would know
