Realme 9 Pro+, in-depth analysis and camera test

Realme continues to bet very strongly on being able to land strongly in the European mid-range, where it has an increasing presence. That is why the Realme 9 Series has arrived to offer alternatives of all prices, from the lower mid-range to the upper mid-range we are going to find a market offer, and this is how this opportunity has been presented.

Find out with us and find out if it's really worth it and what all its secrets are.

Materials and design

This Realme, as has happened previously in the rest of the brand's devices, is made entirely of plastic. Apart from the tempered glass that crowns the back and the large camera module built in methacrylate, we find a chassis made entirely of plastic or polycarbonate in conjunction with the color of the device.

The lock button remains on the right side, the left area for the volume control and the lower bezel as always, for USB-C and 3,5mm Jack (almost extinct). This mix of materials makes the terminal remarkably thin and light.

  • Weight: 128 grams
  • Thickness: 8 mm
  • Colors: Midnight Black – Green – Light Shift (with color change)

We have only 128 grams for a thickness of 8mm that is wrapped in a terminal that, as you well know, has a 6,43-inch panel with a classic lower frame and the selfie camera freckle in the upper left corner. They adopt a somewhat curved rear area to facilitate grip and a flat frame as the current industry brand. Definitely in visual design it accompanies, although the perceived quality is still far from the higher ranges.

Technical characteristics

In terms of hardware we are not disappointed with this Realme 9 Pro + that mounts a MediaTek processor, we talk about the Dimension 920 Octa Core, a recent processor that has demonstrated its technical capabilities and that develops them correctly in the tests that we have carried out. For his part, he is accompanied by 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage that yield results above 500.000 points in Antutu.

  • Processor: MediaTek Dimension 920
  • RAM: 8GB LPDDR4X + 5GB Dynamic-RAM
  • Storage: 128GB UFS 2.2

The processor is made in a 6nm architecture and as for the GPU we have the ARM Mali-G68 MC4 which has performed well in our graphics tests. All this is accompanied by 5GB of Dynamic-RAM, a virtual memory that we can adjust in steps from 2GB to 5GB depending on our needs.

  • Telephony: 5G
  • Bluetooth 5.1
  • 6 WiFi
  • NFC

This processor has 5G capabilities In the most common bands, from what we have been able to verify, we have coverage, although the speeds are far from what the companies promised for reasons of expansion not attributable to the device. Accompanied by the most usual Bluetooth 5.1, WiFi 6 and of course NFC to make payments.

Multimedia and autonomy

We have a 6,43-inch Samsung-made AmoLED panel And 90Hz refresh rate accompanied by an on-screen fingerprint sensor that also has heart rate measurement capabilities, as well as a sound Dolby Atmos and Ambient Sound through this asymmetrical stereo system. In the same way Realme promises us Hi-Res Gold for sound, although we have not been able to objectively verify this technical section.

  • Loading time: we have 50% of the terminal loaded in just 15 minutes.
  • Realme has opted for only 90Hz which are already higher than usual. We have a well-adjusted panel, with good brightness peaks and that, from my point of view, is one of the most positive factors of the terminal.

covering a big 4.500 mAh battery which obviously does not have wireless charging, while we do have the well-known 60W fast charge of these terminals with the VTF load optimization algorithm. Of course, the included charger has a USB-A port, something that still surprises us with so much implementation of USB-C that we are experiencing.

Camera test

Realme bets on a sensor Sony(IMX766) With OIS stabilization of no less than 50MP, let's take a look at the set of cameras:

  • Main: 50MP Sony IMX766 f/1,8 > A sensor that suffers in contrast but that with processing is capable of defending itself quite well, even taking into account video recording and Portrait Mode, however, it offers us quality and performance at the height of the range and the price of the device.
  • Spring Wide Angle: 8MP f/2,3 > A sensor that suffers a lot in low light and contrast conditions, it only offers good results in very favorable cases.
  • Depth: 2MP f/2,4 > This sensor only technically offers support for Portrait Mode, which despite everything we cannot verify live, since most of the work is done by post-processing the image by the device itself.
  • Dual-LED Flash

In the Selfie camera we have 16MP with f / 2,4 with a "beauty mode" that is accentuated too much but we will not have generalized problems in the selfie. As to lto video recording I advise you to take a look at the video that accompanies this article where you have the in-depth test.

Editor's opinion

With this Realme 9 Pro+, once again the firm seeks to offer the maximum exponent in terms of the hardware/price ratio, however, as always happens, we have that the mid-range lacks some features that we might think due to the performance of the rest of the device ( erroneously) that are present. A very interesting option within the mid-range market is what we find in this Realme 9 Pro+.

Prices: realme 9 Pro+: Between 350 and 450 euros. Versions: 6GB+128GB // 8GB+256GB // realme 9 Pro: Between 300 and 350 euros. Versions: 6GB+128GB // 8GB+128GB // realme 9i: Between 200 and 250 euros. // Versions: 4GB+64GB // 4GB+128GB
