Force Android 7.0 update on Huawei P9 Lite

Huawei P9 Lite Android 7.0 Version Europe

Currently the number of Android users who are still in Marshmallow is higher than what has already been updated to the new version of Android Nougat. Therefore, today I bring you this tutorial where I will teach you to install the free version and then force the Android 7.0 update on Huawei P9 Lite for European terminals L-31.

Thus, we will receive future updates without having to wait for our company to customize the software and then launch the update since they usually take a long time to carry out this process.

Warning

  • This process involves risk, but If you strictly follow the steps that are explained, no problem should occur.
  • By carrying out this process we will not lose the guarantee, but it is recommended that if for any reason the terminal becomes annoyed and we still have the current guarantee, we must return to Android Marshmallow
  • Before following this tutorial, try to make a backup since the following process perform a factory restoration by deleting everything we have in our terminal.

This method is recommended for all the people who acquired this terminal through a specific telephone company and who have no guarantee or permanence, since the fact of having to wait for it to update to Android Nougat is unnerving. It fits emphasize that this tutorial is for European terminals (L-31). However, there is a method to force the update in terminals in Latin America.

Download Firmware European version (C432)

In this case I leave you the link to the most stable version of the free European version C432B160 since there are others that have problems with Google Play services and do not allow you to configure the phone correctly. We must unzip it until we only leave a file called Update.app. Once extracted, we create a folder on the SD card called dload, inside this we copy the file that we have unzipped.

Request your unlock code

Unlock Bootloader

As I explained earlier in another tutorial, we must have the OEM unlocking options and USB debugging activated. To request our code we must access the Huawei page and fill out the information they require.

Later with this tool we unlock the bootloader in order to install the recovery corresponding to the version of Android that we have, in this case Marshmallow. Inside the zip I have left you the unlocking tool, the recovery for Marshmallow and two files that I will explain what each one is for.

Install recovery

Recovery Marshmallow

  • We start the terminal in fastboot mode, Volume- and we connect our terminal to the pc.
  • We unzip the folder that I leave inside the zip with the name of TWRP Marshmallow and we start the file that ends in bat.
  • Then we press Enter and the recovery will install itself.
  • We let the terminal start normally.

Flash OEMINFO

All European P9 Lite terminals come by default single sim but we have the option to make it dual sim. I have left two files with the name OEMINFO but they are not the same, one is for Dual Sim and one is for Single Sim. In this case we will use the OEMINFO ss, since it is how it comes by default in our terminal.

  • We put the OEMINFO file to the SD
  • We start in recovery mode and we give Install
  • We look for the file called OEMINFOC432SS on the SD card
  • We flash by sliding the bar to confirm.

recovery flash oem info

The sim slot supports a second, said software-enabled function.

Once we have flashed the file, all we have to do is go back to the recovery start by pressing back and instead of restarting as we normally would, we completely turn off the terminal with the Reboot> Power off option.

Free Firmware Installation.

To install the firmware C432B160 of the free version we will have to have the update.app file that we said at the beginning of this tutorial, on the sd card inside the dload folder. If we have already done this step, the only thing left to do is button combination Volume +, Volume- and Powerall at once to apply the new firmware.

Now to force update so desired of Android Nougat all we have to do is install the HiCare app, have a SIM inside our terminal, start with our Huawei ID and configure our country of origin and then access the First users option of the OS update and it will automatically send the C432B370 or B371 version to the updater.
